Last week for the Thursday Night Football pregame show on CBS, the song Run This Town featuring Rihanna was dropped and did not air.

This week, however, CBS planned to air the song for the pregame show and Rihanna took to Twitter this Tuesday (Sept. 17) to express how she felt about the matter.

The Baltimore Ravens were one of the teams that played last Thursday and had just released running back Ray Rice for a recent domestic violence scandal involving his now-wife.

Rihanna, back in 2009, was involved in a domestic abuse case with then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

CBS felt that with so much controversy around Rice and Rihanna being somewhat connected to such a disgusting act of violence that continues to exists today, it was best to pull the song for it didn’t seem appropriate. Rihanna feels that it was “sad” to penalize her by not using the song last week.

Song or no song, domestic violence is a growing concern for the NFL, and it may be a good time to reflect on how society views abuse at large.
