Rocky just opened at the Winter Garden Theatre and has earned great praise from Broadway critics. The new Broadway musical is based on Sylvester Stallone’s 1976 film. The musical breathes fresh life into the internationally successful movie franchise, giving pomp and a beautiful artistic vision to the unlikely stage production. While Rocky loses the fight, Rocky conquers Broadway.

“I think people have every right to be a little skeptical. They hear ‘Rocky the Musical,’ they think dancing boxers, and they’re a little nervous. I felt the same way,” says Margo Seibert, who plays Adrian. “But honestly it’s blowing people’s minds. It’s not only true to the movie and honors that, but there’s been some expansion in scenes, and that last twenty minutes of a hardcore fight scene, people love it.”

Andy Karl (Rocky Balboa) echoed Seibert’s sentiments about the play and the audience saying, “It’s been spectacular every night since we started this show, audiences are really loving it. We keep fighting from the heart and pushing this story through and making sure everyone has a good time.” And many from the New York theater circle have!

Be sure to see this knock out production of Rocky.
