Shailene Woodley decided to put her fame to use to make money for her charity, All It Takes. She decided to auction off tickets to an advanced screening of her new movie, Divergent, in which she hosted.

The event was held at a theater in Thousand Oaks, California on March 17, 2014 and had about 400 people in attendance.

She managed to get her co-star, Theo James who plays Four, and the author of the bestselling book, Veronica Roth, to make an appearance there as well. They managed to raise $60,000 for Woodley’s charity.

All the proceeds from the ticket sells went directly to help her charity, All It Takes. This charity sponsors instructional camps for children and she wanted to start it to help empower the youth. Its goal is to help “create a positive and sustainable change both locally and globally.” It wants to make available the skills and training that is needed to help create transformation within a community. All It Takes was founded in 2010 by Shailene and her mother, Lori Woodley.

During an earlier interview to The Hollywood Reporter she said that she hope that her charity will encourage teens to “believe in yourself”. Then she went on to say that the core belief of her charity is very similar to her character, Tris, in Divergent.

This is how Shailene explained it, “All It Takes is about bringing the community together to support one another and to encourage each other with leadership, positivity, compassion, empathy, and I think that Tris’ journey really exemplifies that.”

It looks as though that this is one actress who doesn’t mind putting her fame to good use to help a worthwhile charity.

Shailene Woodley was cast in as Amy Juergens in The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She then landed a big role opposite George Clooney in the movie The Descendants.

She won an Independent Spirit Award, the 2012 MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Performance, and she earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Her stardom has shot up a notice since being cast as the lead for the movie Divergent in which she plays Tris who lives in a dystopian Chicago, which is divided into 5 factions in order to help prevent another war. But, when she finds out she is Divergent and what some of the Erudite leaders are planning, it becomes up to her to help stop another war.

The next movie in the Divergent Trilogy, Insurgent, is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 20th, 2015.
