On Good Morning America, Taylor Swift was on the show to promote her new album, 1989, which came out today (October 27).

But Swift also had an interesting announcement. The pop star was named the Global Welcome Ambassador for Tourism with NYC&Company. On the website nycgo.com Taylor shot a tourism promo that encourages people to visit the Big Apple.

New York City embraces roughly 55 million tourists a year.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter earned the honor of Ambassador after releasing the song Welcome to New York on her album–a song about her move to NYC, the metropolis that inspires many of the songs on her album.

If you are going to get anyone to promote a city for tourism, who better than a megastar like Taylor Swift, right?

Taylor Swift is named the Global Welcome Ambassador for Tourism with NYC&Company on Oct. 27, the same day her album 1989 drops. Find out why!
