Two WDBJ7 staff members were killed during a gun attack during a live television news report in Virginia on Wednesday, August 26. The local television station confirmed reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were killed in the attack that took place during a morning news report.
The shooter is still at large, and the motive behind the attack is yet unknown, although there is speculation that the shooter was connected to the station.
“We believe it was a disgruntled employee who fired at the TV crew; not a case of terrorism,” Governor Terry McAuliffe has said.

The station confirmed their deaths shortly after the attack took place around 9AM.
“It is my very very sad duty to report … that Adam and Alison died this morning,” the station told its viewers. “We do not know who the suspect or the killer is.”
Parker and Ward were involved filming a segment while interviewing Vicki Gardner, the local Chamber of Commerce head, about a new shopping and recreation plaza at the time of the shooting. Gardner was also shot in the back during the attack and has been moved to surgery.
