Heartfelt commemorations come in many forms, but Vin Diesel’s latest move to recognize the passing of best friend and Fast and the Furious co-star Paul Walker is a downright tearjerker.
Last week Vin Diesel announced the happy arrival of his new daughter with longtime girlfriend Paloma Jiménez. Of course, just like the whole James Reynolds debacle, the public is most interested in the little tyke’s name. In an interview with the Today show on Monday (March 23) Diesel finally announced that he has named his daughter Pauline – after Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in the fall of 2013.
“I named her Pauline,” Diesel told anchor Natalie Morales. “There’s no other person that I’m thinking about as I’m cutting this umbilical cord. I knew he was there and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my world.”
Furious 7, Walker’s last movie, just premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX, and during its introduction Walker was given a tribute by producer Neal H. Moritz.
Diesel has honored Walker on social media before, posting on his Facebook what a positive effect the actor had on his own life. “He was an important part of my transition into fatherhood… that healthy family member, with the most positive outlook on life… his absence still leaves me speechless. We miss you Pablo…”
Pauline is Diesel’s third child with Paloma. The two are also the proud parents of 6-year-old Hania Riley Sinclair and 4-year-old Vincent Sinclair.
Now THIS is real friendship. Get ready to grab your tissues…
