Britney Spear's New Album

An unedited vocal version of Britney Spears‘ track Alien, off of her most recent album, Britney Jean, has been leaked….and you might want to grab your ear plugs!

The album was released November 29, 2013, and was nominated for the World Music Award for World’s Best Album and Alien is one of Spears’ favorite songs she produced. It may be best song on the album but it will forever remain tarnished by this leaked video. In fact, the leaked video has 80,000 more views than the official Alien music video.

After listening to her Alien track, you understand quickly why she needed that quick Auto-Tune fix. Spears should just own up to it because there’s no hiding her voice now. We cannot deny the magic Auto-Tune does on the voices of our well-know performers but in this case – ignorance is bliss.

“The main function of Auto-Tune is to tighten up vocal pitching” and it “uses pitch-shifting techniques to change the pitch of the original sound to match the nearest note in a user-definable scale.” “The program is best known for the singing-through-a-fan, robotic vocal style that has dominated pop radio in recent years with stars like Lady Gaga, T-Pain and countless others, Auto-Tune is in fact widely used in the studio and at concerts to make artists’ sound pitch-perfect.”

Spears’ longtime manager Adam Leber was quoted admitting the singer frequently mimes during her Piece Of Me show at the Planet Hollywood Resort.  He says, “To put on the show that she puts on, it’s virtually impossible to sing the entire time and do what she does.” NT News reports that “in her one and only Australian tour, Spears mimed her entire show.” The video below posted on Instagram proved Leber to be right.

Track producer William Orbit came to Spear’s rescue explaining that the leaked track was her vocal warm-up session. Orbit wrote on Facebook:

“I’d like to affirm that ANY singer when first at the mic at the start of a long session can make a multitude of vocalisations in order to get warmed up. Warming up is essential if you’re a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly. I’ve heard all manner of sounds emitted during warm-ups. The point is that it is not supposed to be shared with millions of listeners. “A generous singer will put something down the mic to help the engineer get their systems warmed up and at the right level, maybe whilst having a cup of herb tea and checking through lyrics before the session really kicks off. It’s not expected to be a ‘take.’”

“Orbit’s gentlemanly defense of Spears has been hailed by her fans, who have long acted as apologists for her robotic-sounding recorded voice and serial reliance on lip-synching.” Listen to the Before and After of the Auto-Tune’s magic touch on Spear’s new song Alien

Britney Spears’ song Alien is becoming a big hit, but not the official version. The song was leaked without Auto-Tune’s magic touch and her voice is petrifying.
