Why Big Movie Stars Are Migrating to the Small Screen for Winter

There was a time not long ago that the divide between film and television actors resembled the relationship between India’s aristocracy and the untouchables. The “you can’t sit with us” mentality seemed to be ingrained in silver screen culture, and the “boobs” on the boob-tube kept to their side of the court. However, over the last decade or so these lines have been blurred and movement between the mediums has become more fluid–for actors, directors, and writers alike.

Trailblazers like Merly Streep and Al Pacino helped to pave the way when they strutted down the red carpet bearing their Emmy’s from Angels in America–and if Meryl did it, it’s got to be sexy, right?

Slowly actors began to move back and forth freely, gaining popularity on one platform, and sticking their toes in the other, just to take the temperature. However, in this fall’s TV lineup, the trend has picked up quite a bit, and the media is really starting to turn their heads.
